🚀 2. Core Advantages#
✅ Outstanding Value for Money#
A complete hardware system combining a mobile base, lift axis, and dual-arm collaboration would traditionally cost hundreds of thousands of RMB. AlohaMini brings this cost down to the RMB 10,000 price range, making it affordable for small and medium-sized research groups, university laboratories, and independent researchers.
✅ Fully Open Source#
The hardware and software of AlohaMini 1 and AlohaMini 2 are now fully open source. Users can freely modify and customize the mechanical CAD drawings, URDF robot description files, and low-level control code to meet their research requirements.
✅ Native Support for the LeRobot Ecosystem#
The robot is deeply compatible with the Hugging Face LeRobot v0.6 development framework, providing an end-to-end closed loop covering high-frequency teleoperated data collection, standardized dataset management, model training, and local deployment for real-robot inference.
The device communication pipeline has been specifically optimized for high-frequency, real-time operation. It natively supports the rapid reproduction, real-robot validation, and iterative fine-tuning of mainstream embodied AI algorithms, including imitation-learning algorithms such asACT, Diffusion Policy, and FastWAM, as well as VLA****foundation models such as Pi-0.5, SmolVLA, EO-1, VLA-JEPA, GR00T N1.7, and EVO1.
✅ Low-Risk Design#
The robot uses low-torque actuators to balance human–robot interaction safety with overload protection during high-frequency teleoperation and routine data collection, making it well suited to frequent laboratory teaching and research use.
It includes a two-level joint stall-protection mechanism:
When the gripper current exceeds 500 mA, gripping force is automatically released to prevent overcurrent damage to the motor.
When the current of any other arm joint reaches 1,800 mA, torque output stops immediately, providing comprehensive protection against hardware overload.
✅ Broad Scenario Coverage#
The robot integrates an omnidirectional mobile base, a motorized lift module, and two Aloha robotic arms, each with 6+1 degrees of freedom.
It supports a variety of unstructured tasks, including low-level floor picking, tabletop manipulation, and long-horizon dual-arm coordination, offering strong adaptability across different scenarios and tasks.
✅ Ready to Use Out of the Box#
Each robot is delivered with the required software preinstalled and factory calibration completed.
With its customized hardware management solution, the system automatically locks the port mappings for five cameras and the robotic arms at startup, requiring no additional configuration. The complete process from a cold start to entering teleoperated data-collection mode takes no more than one minute.
✅ Official Technical Support#
The R&D team, led by the founder of the AlohaMini project, provides comprehensive pre-sales and after-sales technical support.
The system includes continuously updated official tutorials, allowing research groups to get started with no prior setup burden and reproduce algorithms efficiently.

Value: Through low-latency motion synchronization, the system records human demonstrators’ manipulation trajectories and multi-camera visual streams with high fidelity, providing high-quality, standardized real-world data for training the next generation of vision-language-action (VLA) foundation models.
3️⃣ Advanced K–12 STEAM Education and Innovation#
Core application: An intuitive and safe teaching platform for robotics and artificial intelligence.
Value: Its 100% open-source hardware and software architecture and low-risk actuator design make it ideal for advanced technology and innovation classes, allowing students to gain hands-on experience with artificial intelligence, machine vision, and robotic control in a safe, interactive environment.
4️⃣ Cross-Industry Innovation and Prototyping#
Core application: Proof-of-concept testing for cross-scenario operations and functional prototype development.
Value: Across unstructured scenarios ranging from smart household tasks to intelligent eldercare, AlohaMini serves as a practical physical prototyping platform that helps R&D teams rapidly deploy, test, and validate innovative embodied AI concepts in real-world settings.
5️⃣ Lightweight Studio Automation#
Core application: Efficient execution of desktop-scale, non-standard automation tasks.
Value: With its flexible mobility and adjustable height, AlohaMini integrates smoothly into space-constrained, lightweight work environments such as laboratories and small studios, where it can perform multi-step material sorting and coordinated manipulation tasks.
6️⃣ Secondary Development for Remote VR Teleoperation#
Core application: The platform provides fully open low-level APIs and low-latency control interfaces, enabling users to develop and integrate their own remote teleoperation and VR spatial-control systems.
Value: Combined with the robot’s high-frequency bus communication, developers can build immersive, low-latency remote robot-control software for hazardous-environment operation simulations or advanced human–computer interaction research.
